Way back in 1963, an electrician had an idea that having an electrical supply store was a LOT warmer than wiring new buildings without heat in the middle of January in New England. From that day forward, Valley Electric Supply Company was always a warm, inviting family style business offering the best service, value and advice to its customers. Back in those days, Valley Electric was supplying pipe, wire, and in fact all things electrical, to hustling electricians, bustling factories and proud new homeowners. A small lighting department was added to serve the needs of the many new homes and homeowners of that time.

In 1985, we had thoughts about either expanding the lighting department, or getting rid of it and using the extra space for the electrical store. We decided to run with the idea of adding a better selection of lighting and branching out into table lamps. In 1992, we started attending regional and national buying markets, realized that there were MANY great products out there our customers would like, and decided we would push into home décor as well. At this point we had expanded our lighting showroom from 800 square feet, to 1200 square feet and then to 1800 square feet. Suddenly, we were out of room. In late 1995 we purchased the building next door, remodeled it, and moved the supply store out of its current home and into the new building. We then remodeled the existing building and expanded the showroom to 5000 square feet. More markets, more nice things, and in June of 1999 we moved the showroom to a new building 3 blocks away and expanded our display space to 13000 square feet. We moved the supply store back into its old home (where it proudly does business today) and created a nice display area for contractors as well. In between all those dates, there was a lot of hard work, sleepless nights, muttering and just general insanity. “This is the last remodel I’ve got in me” was mumbled more than once!

Valley Electric Supply Company continues to thrive and evolve at 91 West Main Street. Dedicated to serving commercial accounts and professional electricians it also welcomes the general public, weekend warriors, and do-it-yourselfers! Everyone is welcome. You can expect friendly advice and service, professional supplies and tools, and honest prices. In addition to electrical supplies, we also carry the tools the pros use. You can find cabling products for telephone, cable tv, and computers. We have a large selection of energy saving compact fluorescents, halogen specialty lamps, timers, dimmers and motion sensors.

Valley Lighting & Home Décor is one of the largest and most comprehensive lighting showrooms in the great state of Connecticut. Our display area is filled with wonderful things for any home.
